BENOÎT
FAUCHIER
Circus artist, acrobat, musician and maker.
A life in circus
Circus has been part of Benoît’s life since childhood. After training in France at Rosny-sous-Bois and the CNAC, he began working professionally in 2009, creating and touring with companies and collective projects across France and Europe.
Over the years, his practice has moved between acrobatics, collective creation, music and making. The Circus Spiral — first built in 2007 — has accompanied much of that journey, becoming both an acrobatic practice and a long-term field of research.
In 2018, Benoît settled in Sweden, after completing a Master in Contemporary Circus Practices at DOCH / Stockholm University of the Arts. From 2017 onward, Circus I Love You became a major part of his work: creating, performing and touring collectively across Europe.
Today, a new chapter is opening. Through Ideal Cirkus, Benoît is bringing these years of collective practice and experimentation into his own creations — while continuing to explore what circus can be, where it can happen, and how it can be shared.

Curiosity as a practice
Curiosity is at the centre of Benoît’s work.
Acrobatics can lead to music. An apparatus can become an instrument. Building something can become a performance — and a circus practice can sometimes become an object, a workshop or a completely different way of meeting an audience.
This curiosity moves freely between physical practice, music, construction and design. Rather than treating them as separate disciplines, Benoît uses each one as a way of questioning the others: how does this work, what happens if we change it — and what else could it do?
Circus becomes not only something to perform, but a way of looking at, making and playing with the world.
Ideal Cirkus
Ideal Cirkus is the framework through which Benoît develops his own performances, research and ways of sharing circus.
It is a space for different kinds of projects — on stage, through an apparatus or an object, in a workshop, or in unexpected places and situations.
What connects them is a desire to keep circus open: to experiment, to build, to play, and to find new places for circus to exist.
